Pro tip: make your presentation as interactive as possible. Students have an attention span of two to three minutes per year of age. To keep minds from wandering off, include some interactive games or activities in the lesson. For example, if you conducted a lesson on the respiratory system, you could ask them to practice breathing techniques.
Maintain eye contact with your students, and you’ll get instant feedback on how interested they are in the interactive presentation.
Make School Presentation Visuals Without the Hassle of Making Them From Scratch
School presentations, when done right, can help teachers engage their classes and improve students’ education effectively by presenting information using the right presentation topic.

17 fun presentation ideas (with video!) to wow your audience
- 30 Mar 2023
So you want to be the next Steve Jobs. Or Martin Luther King. Or any other dazzling orator you look up to. But you need a little something to add to your presentation ideas – you don’t want to bore people to death with Powerpoint.
Whether you’re creating a sales presentation, an event presentation, or just showing your travel video to Uncle Ron, we’ve compiled some of the best ways to get your audience seriously hyped up about your message.
Biteable offers online video presentation software, so we know a thing or two about making engaging presentation videos. In this guide, we share some of our favorite video presentation inspiration and show you some of the different types of presentations you might consider.
When you’re ready to make your own video presentation, head over to Biteable for hundreds of brandable templates, video scenes, and workplace-ready animations. With Biteable, making a video presentation is as easy as making a PowerPoint – only a whole lot more fun.
Create videos that drive action
Activate your audience with impactful, on-brand videos. Create them simply and collaboratively with Biteable.
Types of video presentations
If you’re looking to win over your audience with a presentation, videos are the best way to do it. According to Insivia, viewers retain 95% of a message when they see it in a video, but only 10% if they have to read on-screen text.
When you’re making your presentation, you could either make your video the whole presentation, or just a part of the whole. Did you know, for example, that you can embed a video in a Powerpoint document? Either is possible with our video templates and it can be interesting to mix things up once in a while.
There are four main types of presentations:
- Informative
- Demonstrative
- Inspirational
Picking the right one will ensure you’re onto a winner with your video presentation. For example, if you’re onboarding some new employees, you might choose a video template that’s an informative presentation like this one:
Or, if you want to show off how something works, a demonstration presentation might be what you want to create:
A persuasive presentation would involve creating a video more like this charity infographic example:
And if you want something a little more inspirational, try something like this positive quote video template.
But that’s not all, folks! If you’d like to check out more awesome Biteable video templates, visit our templates page here .
Creative (and fun!) video presentation ideas
You’ve now picked the type of presentation you need. But how do you get creative with your video?
First of all, it’s important your video is top-notch. Without high-quality graphics and production value, your message may fall by the wayside. Choose online video presentation software that’s easy to use and makes great-looking videos. That’s where Biteable comes in.
Whatever the topic of your presentation, your video format and design need to match the overall tone and message.
Delivering a corporate presentation on climate change? A fast-paced, wildly colorful template with upbeat music is going to feel a little off-message.
To identify how to design your presentation, think about the feelings you want to evoke in your audience. Want them to be crying with laughter? Moved to tears? Motivated into taking action? Pinpointing the emotions behind your presentation will help you choose the right template and make the best video possible.
17 great video presentation ideas
Now you’ve nailed down the type of video presentation you want to make, it’s time to master the finer details. Here’s just some of the ways you can make your message sing.
1. Start with a bold statement
A bold statement can capture your audience’s attention right from the get-go. Your statement should offer something slightly unusual and maybe even a little controversial. Something to make people sit up and take notice.
2. Tell a story
One of the best ways to get your audience’s attention is to tell a story – it’ll hit them right in the feels.
A personal, human story works because it the audience can relate to it on a personal level. Think about some stand-out examples of human stories that relate to your business or idea, and tell that story so people will connect with the central character. The bigger the emotion the better: love, longing, overcoming obstacles, things we’ve all had to deal with at some point in our lives.
Think about the ‘story arc’ – how will you frame your message so the audience immediately empathizes?
If you’re selling trainers, perhaps you’ll talk about someone who’s training for a marathon. If you’re lobbying for women’s rights, perhaps you’ll tell a story of when a passing comment affected you deeply. Maybe you should think back to the decision that started your business, and start your presentation with that.
Here’s a great example of storytelling from one of the world’s top brands:
3. Use music
Music has great power to support and enhance the emotion in a video presentation, and has been proven to sustain an audience’s attention and aid in information retention. Music is used in movies to suggest an emotional state to the viewer, so why not in a video presentation?
Modern, up-tempo music will snap people to attention at the right moment, while slow, minor-key sounds relax the brain, which is useful for reviewing content so it can slip more easily into long-term memory.
It can be a struggle to find good quality royalty free music , but here at Biteable we have a selection of great royalty free tracks (or you can upload your own if you’re that way inclined).
Music is one of the most critical (and often overlooked) aspects of any presentation. Here’s a good example of a Biteable template where the music does a great job of supporting the message.
4. Visual metaphor
Research has shown that combining pictures and text is one of the best ways to help people engage with and retain information. There’s something about how our brain works that makes text by itself far less memorable, so if you can combine something visual with your message, you’ll keep people’s attention longer and they’ll remember more of your presentation.
Talking to a group of people about taking action on something that scares them? A picture of someone diving or bungee jumping could work. Telling your boss how important that company retreat is next year? Show them an image of happy, relaxed people with their toes in the sand.
It doesn’t have to be obvious and clichéd, either. Closed doors, wide open roads, and lighting a candle all have subconscious messages that you don’t really need to explain. (Whatever you do, just don’t use the ultimate cliche: the overused ‘water ripple’ .)
5. Use questions
Questions can be a great way to open a presentation, because they encourage the audience to think for themselves. It opens them up to a realm of critical thinking, which is perfect when you’re gonna sock it to them with your impactful message.
‘Did you know 15 billion trees are cut down each year?’
‘Have you ever considered what life would be like if you didn’t have to save money?’
The art of asking questions in a presentation means you can incorporate them into your video as a great lead-in. Combined with some appropriate music, it can really get your audience thinking about the issue, and then you’ll go on to explain exactly what your solution is.
Having a laugh can really do a lot to win over an audience. There’s no need to be too serious, and even if you’re dealing with a heavy topic, lightening the mood can work wonders.
Whether you’re looking to create a funny sales video, an event presentation, or a presentation for an interview — one thing’s for sure, you can’t go wrong by including humor.
7. Repetition
Simple. Effective. Powerful.
Repetition can be used in several ways: by offering several one-word sentences in a row (the repetition is in the rhythm), or by repeating a word or a key phrase several time throughout your presentation.
In his famous Stanford speech in 2005, for example, Steve Jobs concluded by saying “Stay hungry. Stay foolish.”
Repetition is powerful. It drives home your key message and strengthens your position.
8. Motion Graphics
Motion graphics are basically animation with text as a major component, and is a staple of what we do at Biteable.
When you use moving graphics in a presentation, it instantly captures attention. If your audience is just taking their seats, or are halfway through hearing your story, there’s no doubt they’ll sit up and take notice if you introduce some cool motion graphics, like this Meeting Tips example.
Although they can sometimes feel clichéd, quotes are a great way to impart a message in a presentation. Want your audience to understand something complex? A quote from Einstein should do it. Or would you like to say something meaningful and poetic? A couple of lines of Shakespeare should convey some wisdom.
10. Audio narration
Narration can give a different mood to your presentation, especially if the voice is powerful and the words are heartfelt. Use it to change the tone or pace of your presentation and it will certainly keep your audience hooked if there’s a danger of them losing interest.
11. Go bright with color
Color can have a huge effect on how your video comes across. Don’t be afraid to experiment. The contrasts of black and white can be extremely effective, but you can also grab people’s attention with some carefully-chosen primary and secondary colors, like in our Motion Graphics template.
12. Use illustrations
Illustrations are a great way to communicate information, especially if you’ve got lots to say. Whether you want to create a crowd of people or a cool depiction of some new fancy gadget, illustrations can draw the eye and make your presentation more interesting.
13. Infographics
When you utilize infographics, you can pack in a huge amount of data and information without confusing your audience. Think pie charts, digital numbers, and ascending animated graphs. These can show your audience boring data in an exciting way.
14. Create interesting transitions
The one advantage of video over a standard presentation is that you can do all types of funky things with transitions, like a whip pan transition, when the camera quickly pans between scenes. It’s a bit like a wipe, but much faster. Check out our full article on transitions here .
15. Make it look cinematic
Adding a cinematic touch can help your audience feel receptive to your message because subconsciously, they will associate these elements with being at the cinema, eating popcorn, and generally having a good time.
16. Go retro
A cool, retro look for your presentation will make it hard to ignore. By going retro, you add a little bit of cheeky style to your message. You don’t need to go quite as retro as the template below, but taking a step back in time is a sure way to add a little bit of zing to things.
17. End on a meaningful note
Your presentation will only give your audience a lasting impression if you end it right.
It’s important to let the audience know what you want them to do next: to visit a website for more information, to ponder an idea or new direction, or to take action toward a particular goal.
An attention-grabbing visual will work really well here, along with a meaningful end to the music – a change of pace, volume, or pitch.
What’s the takeaway message? A strong CTA (call to action) will ensure your presentation is memorable and much more likely to be talked about.
Video brings your presentation alive
Of course, we’re a little biased here at Biteable, but we’ve also sat through enough mind-numbingly dull presentations to know that video offers a delightful treat for your audience. It brings your message to life in a way no other medium can.

Rollout of transgender bathroom law sows confusion among Utah public school families
By HANNAH SCHOENBAUM Associated Press
SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — Utah public schools have been rushing to prepare students and teachers as the state starts cracking down Wednesday on any school found not enforcing new bathroom restrictions for transgender people.
Residents and visitors are required under state law to use bathrooms and changing rooms in government-owned buildings that correspond with their sex assigned at birth. Although the law took effect when Republican Gov. Spencer Cox signed it Jan. 30, it was not widely enforced before a key compliance mechanism began this week. Schools and government agencies now face steep fines of up to $10,000 per day for each violation.
The rollout has been roiled in confusion for Utah families amid a patchwork of plans that differ across districts. Their experiences are mirrored in many of the other 10 Republican-led states with similar restroom restrictions. Enforcement of one of those laws — in Idaho — has been put on hold by a court.
Utah state Rep. Kera Birkeland, a Morgan Republican and the bill’s primary sponsor, has argued it’s a necessary safeguard against people who might claim they’re transgender to infiltrate a gendered space. She pitched the law as a safety measure to protect the privacy of women and girls without citing evidence of threats or assaults by trans people against them. Trans residents say she has used a hypothetical to justify exclusion.
Legislators left it up to each school district to decide how it will communicate the changes. Some have held classroom presentations. Others have sent home fact sheets or met privately with families who might be affected.
Despite their different approaches, the state’s largest school districts say they share a common goal: make affected individuals feel safe while handling any issues in-house.
Principals in the Granite, Alpine, Davis and Salt Lake City school districts have been trained to address bathroom concerns on an individual basis, with discretion and empathy for LGBTQ+ students, spokespeople for the districts said.
The law requires schools to create “privacy plans” for those who do not feel comfortable using group bathrooms, but Graham Beeton, 11, said such accommodations can be isolating. The Salt Lake City fifth grader, who uses he/they pronouns, said he feels loved by his classmates and does not understand why the government cares which bathroom he uses.
“It hurts me,” Beeton said. “I might be uncomfortable going into that restroom, so I want to go into a different one, but the law doesn’t say that I can.”
Trans people in Utah may only use facilities that align with their gender identity if they’ve legally changed the gender on their birth certificate and undergone certain gender-affirming surgeries, which are rarely performed on minors.
Draped in an LGBTQ+ pride flag with rainbows painted on his cheeks, Beeton beckoned his classmates to a block party held just across the street from Bonneville Elementary School on Monday afternoon. With teachers in all Salt Lake City schools set to present about the bathroom law, his mom and many other parents pulled their kids out early and threw a party in support of affected students and staff.
Among them was Mia Norman, an emergency room technician and the mother of twins, who said she did not understand how the law could realistically be enforced on children. She worried kids and their parents might be encouraged to snitch on school administrators and vulnerable students.
Norman and other parents said the rollout this week has led to tough conversations with their kids about how politics can impact their lives at a young age.
Fourth grade students Lila and Sophia left the presentation confused about why the law existed and worried that it might make some of their peers feel bad about themselves. They were told to approach a teacher with any questions about which bathroom they should use and to report instances of bullying, according to a copy of the presentation obtained by The Associated Press.
“There shouldn’t be a law in place to tell people who they can be or to stop feeling how they want to feel,” said 10-year-old Lila Hathaway.
Bree Taylor-Lof, a transgender teacher, left school on the verge of tears Monday after having to present to students about a policy that affected them personally. They fought to keep their emotions in check while fielding questions from confused fifth graders who did not understand why the law had been passed.
Realizing that the restrictions would affect their teacher, many of the kids gave Taylor-Lof hugs and handwritten cards on their way out the door.
“Our youth today have a keen sense for justice and inclusion and looking out for each other,” Taylor-Lof said. “That was clear in the concern that they expressed about their fellow peers, and for me.”

The Satanic Temple plans to place ministers in Oklahoma schools if new bill becomes law
by ALEXANDRA SHARFMAN | KTUL
TULSA, Okla. (KTUL) — The Satanic Temple (TST) announced its plans to have ministers in public schools across Oklahoma after the state House passed Senate Bill 36.
The measure would allow volunteer chaplains in public schools. However, there are some strings attached.
Districts must conduct background checks, and cannot employ a chaplain who is a registered sex offender or convicted of a felony offense.
The chaplain can also be dismissed for mental or physical abuse to a child, negligent endangerment, or an act of moral turpitude
If the bill passes through the Senate, it would take effect Nov. 1.
TST said it has expressed a dedication to religious plurality and community service.
While we would prefer states to invest in professional counselors over unlicensed religious support for students, we are prepared to adapt to these legislative conditions,” said Rachel Chambliss, TST’s Executive Director of Operations. “We are committed to offering compassionate guidance to students who come to us so that we can help make positive changes in their lives by listening to their needs and providing support.”
Chambliss said having TST Ministers in the state's education system would help with equal religious representation.

Nearly 100 people arrested at USC, police say
From CNN's Elizabeth Wolfe and Josh Campbell
The Los Angeles Police Department said 93 people were arrested on suspicion of trespassing during Wednesday's demonstrations at the University of Southern California.
"The university is a private campus and the group had been violating some of their orders. It was a trespass at that point and we assisted with the arrests," Los Angeles Police Captain Kelly Muniz said during a briefing .
One person was also arrested for assault with a deadly weapon, Muniz said. She did not provide further details.
No protesters or officers have been reported injured, police said.
Some context: USC's Department of Public Safety ordered protesters gathering at the campus' Alumni Park Wednesday afternoon to disperse or face arrest for trespassing.
At one point during the demonstrations, tensions escalated as protesters refused to relocate and remove their tents and other prohibited items, a university official said.
The university closed its campus Wednesday evening as LAPD began arresting demonstrators.
Negotiations at Columbia University unstable, organizers say
From CNN's Kathleen Magramo
Negotiations between protesters and Columbia University officials about clearing the encampment on its lawn that had been extended for 48 hours have been “unstable," said Esha Karam, managing director of Columbia Daily Spectator, citing student organizers.
"We're about halfway through that extended deadline of 48 hours and we heard from organizers on the student front earlier today in a press conference who told us that the negotiations are ongoing so unstable at the moment," Karam told CNN.
There's still around another 24 hours to go until the extended deadline "but really after that, we don't really know where things are going,” Karam added.
House Speaker Mike Johnson called Wednesday for the resignation of the university’s president if she can't "bring order to this chaos."
Student reactions to calls for the college president's resignation have been mixed, Karam said.
She said there are “some who are willing to see her continue to lead and continue to work with her.”
Cal Poly Humboldt campus to remain closed through weekend as protesters occupy buildings
From CNN’s Cindy Von Quednow
The California State Polytechnic University, Humboldt campus will remain closed through the weekend as protesters, including "unidentified non-students," continue to occupy two buildings, school officials said in an update .
Work and classes will remain remote, and officials are considering keeping the campus closed for longer.
“There are unidentified non-students with unknown intentions, in Siemens Hall,” the officials said. “This creates an unpredictable environment. In addition, all entrances to the building are barricaded, creating a fire hazard. Adding to health and safety concerns, many toilets are no longer working.”
Other buildings on the campus in Arcata are at risk of being occupied, and protesters “have shown a willingness” to lock themselves in facilities and steal equipment, the officials said.
“Campus officials are communicating with protestors and continuing to encourage them to leave as soon as possible.”
Graffiti described as “hateful” has been painted on campus, the officials said.
“The University condemns in the strongest terms all forms of hatred, bigotry, and violence. Anti-Semitism, Islamophobia, hatred, and bigotry in all forms have no place at Cal Poly Humboldt.”
The university "supports free speech through open dialogue that is respectful and constructive," the officials said.
"That does not include behavior that involves destroying and damaging property, and disrupting students, faculty, and staff from learning, teaching, and working. Everyone deserves to be in an environment where everyone can feel safe, included, and respected.”
Fox 7 photographer among those arrested at University of Texas at Austin
From CNN’s Joe Sutton
A photographer was among those arrested during clashes between protesters and law enforcement on the University of Texas at Austin campus on Wednesday.
Fox 7 reported that their photographer was detained and arrested. The station did not identify the employee.
In an evening update , the Texas Department of Public Safety said that 34 arrests had been made by law enforcement on the campus as of 9 p.m.
CNN has contacted Texas DPS, UT Austin Police, and UT Austin for information on this arrest.
Columbia University Board of Trustees voices support for embattled president
From CNN's Rob Frehse
The Columbia University Board of Trustees released a statement Wednesday saying they strongly support President Minouche Shafik, who has faced calls for her resignation amid intense pressure to rein in days-long protests.
“The Columbia University Board of Trustees strongly supports President Shafik as she steers the university through this extraordinarily challenging time,” the board said in a statement Wednesday . “During the search process for this role, President Shafik told us that she would always take a thoughtful approach to resolving conflict, balancing the disparate voices that make up a vibrant campus like Columbia’s, while taking a firm stance against hatred, harassment and discrimination.” “That's exactly what she's doing now,” the trustees added.
The board said it is "urgently working" with Shafik to resolve the unrest on campus and "rebuild the bonds of our community."
UT Austin Police give "all clear" for dispersal order as authorities arrest more than 30 protesters
The University of Texas at Austin Police Department said in a statement on X Wednesday evening that "the dispersal order at the South Mall has ended. All University rules are still in effect."
As of 9 p.m. CT, 34 arrests have been made by law enforcement on the UT Austin campus, according to an X post from the Texas Department of Public Safety.
Muslim Public Affairs Council condemns calls for National Guard to be deployed against protesters
Amid arrests of pro-Palestine protesters across universities, the Muslim Public Affairs Council condemned calls for the deployment of the National Guard , saying the “crackdown on students with an overwhelming militaristic force has set a dangerous precedent for university administrations nationwide.”
“The Muslim Public Affairs Council calls on the people of conscience, including faculty and leaders, to oppose threats to deploy the National Guard on the Gaza Solidarity Encampment at Columbia University, whose aim is to push back against the university’s continued financial investment in corporations that profit from Israeli apartheid, genocide, and occupation in Palestine,” the council said in a statement Wednesday.
MPAC urged for a reevaluation of strategies used to handle protests on campuses across the country and says it advocates for “approaches that emphasize de-escalation and address students’ concerns through constructive means rather than force and intimidation.”
In a previous statement on Tuesday , MPAC accused the White House of having double standards for issuing a response condemning violence and physical intimidation against Jewish students at Columbia University, but says the administration “consistently fails to extend the same sentiments to students who face repeated violence, intimidation, doxing, and harassment for their pro-Palestinian advocacy.”
LAPD arrest about 50 protesters at USC
From CNN's Stephanie Becker and Nick Watt
The Los Angeles Police Department arrested approximately 50 protestors at the University of Southern California after campus police gave a dispersal order to demonstrators, according to a CNN crew at the scene.
Campus police announced earlier that anyone who stayed in the area would be subject to criminal trespass laws.
Video from the scene showed protestors not resisting arrest as LAPD handcuffed them with zip ties and escorted them away from the ongoing protest.

26 Republican attorneys general sue to block Biden rule requiring background checks at gun shows
Twenty-six Republican attorneys general are suing the Biden administration over its new rule requiring firearm dealers to run background checks at gun shows and other places outside brick-and-mortar stores
LITTLE ROCK, Ark. -- Twenty-six Republican attorneys general filed lawsuits Wednesday challenging a new Biden administration rule requiring firearms dealers across the United States to run background checks on buyers at gun shows and other places outside brick-and-mortar stores.
The lawsuits filed in federal court in Arkansas, Florida and Texas are seeking to block enforcement of the rule announced last month, which aims to close a loophole that has allowed tens of thousands of guns to be sold every year by unlicensed dealers who do not perform background checks to ensure the potential buyer is not legally prohibited from having a firearm.
The lawsuit argues the new rule violates the Second Amendment of the U.S. Constitution and that Democratic President Joe Biden doesn't have the authority to implement it.
“Congress has never passed into law the ATF’s dramatic new expansion of firearms dealer license requirements, and President Biden cannot unilaterally impose them,” Arkansas Attorney General Tim Griffin said in a statement. "This lawsuit is just the latest instance of my colleagues in other states and me having to remind the President that he must follow the law.”
The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and the Department of Justice declined to comment on the lawsuit. Biden administration officials have said they are confident the rule, which drew more than 380,000 public comments, would withstand lawsuits.
As the 2024 presidential campaign heats up, the lawsuit and potential court battle to follow could animate both sides — GOP voters who want fewer restrictions on guns and Democrats who want more restrictions on types of firearms and access to them.
Biden has made curtailing gun violence a major part of his administration and reelection campaign as the nation struggles with ever-increasing mass shootings and other killings. He created the White House Office of Gun Violence Prevention, overseen by Vice President Kamala Harris, and has urged Congress to ban so-called assault weapons — a political term to describe a group of high-powered guns or semi-automatic long rifles, like an AR-15, that can fire 30 rounds fast without reloading. Such a ban was something Democrats shied from even just a few years ago.
Gun control advocates have long pushed for closing the so-called gun show loophole and have praised the new rule on background checks.
“If we don’t update our national system by closing these loopholes, there is no telling how many more Americans we will lose to gun violence,” said Kris Brown, president of the gun control group Brady. "Brady will do everything in our power to defend this rule because we know it brings us closer to a future free from gun violence.”
Associated Press writers Alanna Durkin Richer and Colleen Long in Washington contributed to this report.
